How exciting is this?
This year at Hull’s Freedom Festival, we have not only been invited to join the parade, but we have also been chosen to collaborate with #sunflowermusic on Quingo.
Quingo Starlequinn the National Drummer was co-designed by young people from Heart n Soul’s Do Your Own Thing and Emergency Exit Arts.
Quingo was a commission by artist Jeremy Deller and the National Gallery as part of The Triumph of Art.
Quingo is travelling up from London for a bit of a facelift, T.I.C Blue Influencers have been given the chance to design Quingos face/s (they have 4!) and provide sound bites to give Quingo tics.
Quingo will have motor tics such as blinking along with vocal tics you will no doubt hear during the parade.
This has been an amazing project to work on and a great opportunity to spread awareness.
Quingo will be opening the festival in a parade on Saturday 5th September at 11am (meeting at 10.30 at the cenotaph) and will end in Queen Victoria square where there will be a street party. It should all be finished around 12.30.
Sunday 6th at 2pm (meeting at Cenotaph at 1.30) Quingo will then be part of the closing parade. in the same format. should be finished by 3.30.
