Tourettes Syndrome Awareness Month 15th May-15th June

We want to share with you everything we have going on at TIC during Tourettes Awareness Month. As more things are booked in we will continue to share.

15th May – We will be giving out information at Hull University, if your about come and say HI.

18th May – We are hosting a creative exhibition to raise awareness on Tourettes syndrome through the eyes of those living with the condition. We will be highlighting pieces of art (photography, drawing, painting, digital art, poetry, short stories, dance, song and anything else you find creative) that explains TS through lived experience.
We will be joining forces with Rooted in Hull who will be exhibiting our pieces for the public to see.
We will be holding a launch event on the 18th May 1-4pm, there will be pizza and hot and cold drinks available for all. It is a beautiful space and i feel you will fall in love with it just like we did!
The exhibition will remain on show for a week for people to come along and enjoy. We will also be using the pieces to display at our Symposium in August.

25th May – A group of TIC members are taking part in a 5k obstacle colour rush in Manchester. All money raised will be going straight to TIC. If you would like to support the team you can do so here donate for colour run

2nd June – Brave the shave. Our Chair of Trustees Ravenna will be braving the shave to raise funds and awareness for TIC. Ravenna a mother of 2 Tourettic children and a partner to a Tourettic adult says ” People With Tourettes Syndrome do not have an easy life or have safe places often, and The Hub is that safe place, with people that care, unfortunately funding is hard, fundraising bids are not enough on its own and we need to raise capital to keep the fantastic support ongoing 🙂

So I have decided to Brave the Shave! 2nd June 2024 at the Hub during a Sunday Monthly Social my long hair is being shaved and live streamed (so you can all laugh at/with me) hide my chins!!! This will make me very uncomfortable as my hair is my safe space, I hide behind it, thus leaving me open to ridicule and uncomfortableness in the wider community just like our service users experience daily, my hair will grow back, their experience never ends” You can donate to Ravenna cause here donate here

7th June (Tourettes Awareness Day) – Laura at Krutio Tatoos is holding a drop in day where you can pick your choice of TS awareness tatoo (£30,£40,£50) all proceeds will be given to TIC and TIC will be present on the day to share information.

One of our mums is doing a couch to 5k. Lauren says “Hi, I’m doing the couch to 5k to raise money for the sen community in hull.
I’ve decided to raise money for the hull parent forum and tics sibling support. The local charities have been amazing in supporting myself as a parent carer and my children” to donate to Lauren’s fundraiser click here donate here
